Common questions
What does the test measure?
Modern Hebrew reading, vocabulary, and grammar, with five questions in each band from A1 to C1. Your result is an approximate reading level; speaking, listening, and writing are not assessed.
How is my result calculated?
Each question is worth one point. Matching questions give partial credit for correct pairs. Your estimate is the highest consecutive band in which you score at least 70%, starting at A1. Below that, the result is “Building towards A1”. The bands are a guide, not a validated placement scale; five questions per band can only give a rough estimate.
Should I guess or use a dictionary?
Take the test without a dictionary or translator. Choose “I don’t know” when you are unsure. There is no time limit for answering. Feedback appears after each answer, then a countdown takes you to the next question. Pause the timer if you want more time to read.
Does the test use vowel marks?
The first five questions include nikud (vowel marks). Later questions use the unpointed Hebrew you will see in everyday reading. If you are still learning the letters, use the Hebrew alphabet chart before taking the test.
Can I pause and come back?
Yes. Completed answers are saved in this browser when local storage is available. You can resume here without an account, or start over. Allow about 10–15 minutes for all 25 questions.
